Since the 2004 Asia tsunami, there has been a glut of designs and competitions aimed at better aid distribution in crisis zones. Most are unremarkable and not particularly well developed solutions. The ‘Bedu’ Emergency Rapid Response by Toby McInnes is a breath of functional air. It is designed to fit within the current logistical framework and features just about everything you could possibly need. All rolled up neatly in a barrel. If only it assembled itself.

自2004年亚洲海啸发生以来，国际上举办过多次的紧急救援相关产品的设计大赛。其中设计师 Toby McInnes 所设计的“Bedu”应急救援桶因其全能式的功能设计引起了人们的热情关注。
Bedu紧急救援桶通过拆卸组装后能够神奇般地变成一个大帐篷、一个单人浴室、桌椅、水桶、工具箱、医疗急救箱等。
相信在刚刚经历了大雪灾的中国，这个Bedu应急救援桶应该可以给我们带来不少的启发吧。

Emergency response kits usually are pieces of equipment that do their duty in a quiet, efficient way but don’t look too exciting or radical. Talking about exciting and radical, here is one emergency kit that aims to change the rules of the game with its fresh, innovative approach. Designer Toby McInnes has packed in a whole load of emergency equipment into a smart barrel design called the Bedu. The Barrel shaped Bedu comes in a bright orange colour to make it very visible. Inside this Bedu is where all the innovation lies.

Almost everything that you might need in an emergency is neatly modularized and packed into the Bedu. A multifuel stove for cooking and heating, a microfilter filtration system, a medical kit, a tool kit and a hand driven generator are the pieces of equipment which will help you survive almost anywhere. And to house all this, the Bedu even manages to squeeze in a shelter replete with its own lighting rig.
